On Saturday 31 January, another demonstration marched through London against the ongoing atrocities being committed by the Israeli state and its western backers in Gaza.

Thousands filled the roads, over two years since the conflict began. The turnout is also significant given that Netanyahu, Trump and European leaders refer to the conflict as resolved by way of a so-called ceasefire, in hopes that the world will turn its attention away from Gaza, despite the fact that the Israeli state continues to kill Gazans.
Opposition to the imperialist antics of Trump in recent weeks was also expressed by protesters. Some held up signs against Trump’s aggression in Venezuela, and also against his threats of intervention and conflict with Iran.
Trump’s brazenly aggressive foreign policy is bringing to light for many the nature of US imperialism, which we say is a symptom of the capitalist system. Many will therefore draw parallels between the conflicts arising all over the world.
The Socialist Party handed out material, leading with challenging the farcical ‘Board of Peace’ set up by Trump, which the protesters engaged well with. We will continue to point towards the need for socialist mass struggle and democratic workers’ control in the region to achieve peace. And to fight for socialist change in Britain as the most important act of solidarity workers and young people in Britain can take.
