Labour and Met conspire to repress Gaza demonstrators
The Socialist Party condemns the disgraceful policing operation at the peaceful Gaza demonstration in London on Saturday 19 January, which was stopped from marching by the Metropolitan Police. Up to 80 arrests were made, including Stop the War Coalition vice chair Chris Nineham, as well as a number of other protesters. The trade union movement must demand all charges are dropped.
London Anti-Trump Women’s march
This march was another demonstration of the fact that people are desperate for an alternative to capitalism and the two-party system, but simply did not know where to turn. The turnout was several thousand, as it prepared to march to Westminster.
East London school strike: ‘We strike to make our school better’

Croydon Tories close libraries
Croydon Tory council closed the doors on four libraries in November. The council announced that this closure would allow it to increase the opening hours and offer more services at the remaining nine libraries.
Save Applecart Arts from Newham Labour cuts
The fight is on to save another local cultural centre in Newham, East London. Performing arts union Equity protested outside the Labour council’s cabinet meeting on 3 December, demanding an emergency grant for Applecart Arts.
Labour council forced back on Markhouse Centre cuts
We believe if we hadn’t been out campaigning, the centre would have silently been closed. But the campaign has paid off, at least temporarily, and the decision to close the centre was pushed back.
Thames Water bonuses: water load of crap
