State repression in Pakistani-occupied Kashmir has sparked outrage. Thousands came to a solidarity protest in London on 30 July. London Socialist Party members went down in support, and we were welcomed.

Newham youth want a future
London youth unemployment stands at one in four. Newham, in East London, has the second highest of all London boroughs. Schools are chronically underfunded after years of vicious Tory and Labour cuts. Unis are no different.
UCU: London Met still fighting redundancies
Strikers at London Metropolitan University held a rally on 31 July as part of the continuing action against cuts and redundancies by members of the University and College Union (UCU).

On 7 August, Unite strikers at the Institute of Cancer Research launched all-out indefinite strike action with a rallly. The streets of quiet plush South Kensington echoed to the chant of “We fight cancer every day, we can’t do it on low pay!”
