Following a successful campaign, which has brought in locals and unions together to reject austerity and gentrification in East London, Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club has been granted status as an asset of community value.

Tens of thousands of anti-racist counter-protesters took to the streets on the evening of 7 August. A list of locations as potential targets for further racist right-wing attacks had circulated online.

Tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ people and their allies marched through central London in a record show of solidarity at Trans Pride on 27 July.

Karl Vidol won the support of Enfield Community Action Group (ECAG) at a community meeting on 29 May. Karl will stand for election in the Southgate and Wood Green constituency, as a candidate for TUSCoalition, endorsed by ECAG.

More than 10,000 people gathered outside Downing Street on 28 May for an emergency protest, after Israel carried out a horrendous attack on Rafah, bombing a refugee camp and killing at least 50 civilians.

We took to the streets on 18 May. Although this was the 14th national march for this cause through the heart of the capital, support and passion are not waning. The mood was defiant and determined.

Every time I dispose of unsold copies of The Socialist, I think: We have a paper which contains the answers to the issues of the rotten capitalist society we live in, copies that remain unsold are helping to prop up that system.
