On 18 October, 60 people attended a London Socialist Party public meeting to address the housing crisis. This coincided with a last-minute vigil for those affected by the air strike on a hospital in Gaza, which we attended before the meeting.

Our local campaign group ‘Save Our Square’ met under the shadow of the two newly constructed lift shafts for the two monster blocks being built in Walthamstow, East London. Our campaign has held these buildings at bay for eight years.

Philip Glanville, directly elected mayor of Hackney since 2016, has resigned in disgrace. Questions emerged about when he and the Labour Party became aware that former Labour councillor Tom Dewey was raided and arrested on child pornography charges, and when he broke off contact.

Housing activists in north London occupied 28 empty flats next to Pentonville Prison on 26 August, saying that the Ministry of Justice has failed to allow the flats to be retrofitted for homeless people in the borough.

Campaigning in Stockwell, we met people interested in joining the Socialist Party. They were mainly young, wanting to get more politically active.

The Save Our Square campaign in Waltham Forest, East London, has kept the developers at bay for seven years in the fight to stop the building of two monster blocks in the town square. However, the blocks are now going up…

Everyone that Socialist Party members spoke to on the demonstration outside the Royal Courts of Justice on 17 June, was furious that a woman who had sought abortion healthcare was now in prison.

In March, Croydon Council passed a shocking 15% council tax hike in a budget proposed by their Tory Mayor that included a further £27 million of cuts to services. If Labour councillors had voted against the budget and organised against the threatened government commissioners, they could have stopped it.
